Cool-Running Power Upgrade for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k
The original 7805 linear regulator in the ZX Spectrum 48k is responsible for a significant amount of internal heat, which is the primary enemy of vintage electronics. This MuRata 5v Switching Regulator is the modern solution.
Custom Horizontal Pin Modification:
Standard switching regulators are often too tall for the shallow 48k “rubber key” case. To solve this, Retro Revival Shop has modified these units with a horizontal pin configuration. This allows the regulator to sit low against the PCB, ensuring the case closes perfectly without putting pressure on the motherboard or the case top.
