The Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128k (Toast Rack) is a prized piece of hardware, but like many vintage computers, it suffers from internal heat generated by the original 7805 linear regulator. Replacing this with a modern switching regulator is the single best modification you can perform for long-term reliability.
