While the Analogue IO board is built for CRTs, the Digital IO Board is the superior choice for modern displays and advanced users who want to maximize their system’s potential. By relocating the video duties to the DE10-Nano’s native HDMI, this board focuses on providing superior power management, high-end audio, and maximum hardware expansion.
Dual SDRAM Ready: The Only Way to 256MB
The most significant advantage of the Digital IO Board is its footprint. Because it does not occupy the second set of 2×20 GPIO headers on the DE10-Nano, it allows for Dual SDRAM module configurations. As cores become more complex, having the ability to run two memory modules ensures your setup is ready for whatever the FPGA scene develops next.
High-Fidelity Audio & Tape Input
- Dual TOSLINK Connectivity: Includes both a standard Full-Size Digital TOSLINK and a 3.5mm Mini-TOSLINK port, providing interference-free optical audio for your home cinema or DAC.
- Integrated ADC In: Features a dedicated 3.5mm audio jack for ADC (Tape Input). Load original cassette data into computer cores like the ZX Spectrum or Commodore 64 without needing extra add-on boards.
Advanced Hardware Features
- Physical Power Switch: A dedicated on/off toggle with built-in over-voltage protection, removing the need to unplug your power cable every time you finish a session.
- SNAC-Ready User Port: The USB 3.0-style User IO port supports SNAC (Serial Native Accessory Converter) adapters. Get 1:1 latency-free input using original Sega Mega Drive, Genesis, or Master System gamepads.

Note: For this board to function, SW3 on your DE10-Nano must be set to the ON position.
